Release notes for MDSF Version 3.2.3

Version 3.2.3 of the MDSF software was released on 27th August 2003. This version is available only on CD-ROM as it contains a roll-up of all previous patches. The media size is inappropriate for web download.

  • Updated economic calculations that are now quicker and more transparent
  • Option to utilise the 'top level' depth damage data (as recommended by the Flood Hazard Research Centre's multi-coloured manual) added
  • Added functionality to uniquely number catchment properties (added as some datasets previously contained duplicate property IDs, hindering process checking
  • Functionality added to calculate damages by estimating depths implied by a 2d flood extent and a digital ground elevation model
  • Support for overriding property threshold level on a property by property basis
  • Added support for assigning a property asset value and annual average damage capping
  • Added a tool to calculate total property asset value within user specified polygons
  • Quicker and more reliable visualisation
  • Added support for SMPs (Shoreline Management Plans) - New datasets now supported and erosion added to economic calculations when running in SMP mode
  • Updated user guide (PDF) including all new features
  • Other minor bug fixes and enhancements

Version 3.2.3 is the fourth release under the maintenance agreement.

Support, Advice and Training

Support is now available from the MDSF team. Registered supported users have access to the mdsf online support forums. All registered users can view the frequently asked questions areas. Please note that users with an Environment-Agency email address are eligible for access to the support forums. If you are a member of the EA and are unable to access the support forums, please contact our team to have your account upgraded.

Additionally, the MDSF team are now able to offer a variety of training options for the use of the MDSF tools and procedures.

We would also like to encourage users to share their experiences and views through the discussion forums provided.
